The Rider Social | Backcountry Snowboard / Splitboard Trips In The Western Alps

with No Comments

The Rider Social run backcountry snowboarding and splitboarding courses in the western Alps. They are based in the French resort of Chatel, right in the middle of the Portes Du Soleil – one of the world’s biggest linked areas. Along with having some great in-bounds terrain the Portes Du Soleil has backcountry in abundance and the amount of legendary resorts and splitboarding spots within an hour or so’s drive is insane.

The Rider Social have been running trips out of Chatel for the past seven years and by the looks of things they know the area really well. Combine that with the fact that they use highly qualified local guides and you should be looking at an increased chance of scoring powder with these guys.

Chatel is situated within easy reach of some incredible places too – Chamonix and Verbier are close enough to visit for the day along with plenty of ‘secret’ freeride spots too. Plus this part of the Alps has enough backcountry available to last a lifetime.

The Rider Social don’t just ride the Portes Du Soleil – backcountry areas like Grand St Bernard are within easy reach too.

Moving over technical terrain in the Portes du Soleil.

As an added bonus The Rider Social are sponsored by Never Summer UK who provide them with a fleet of the latest Never Summer freeride boards and splitboards to use during the week. Never Summer have a stellar reputation for producing high-end decks that excel in big mountain terrain – having a full rack of current and future season Never Summer boards on tap is a pretty big plus if you ask me. Even if you aren’t on a Rider Social trip, the Never Summer fleet is available to try.

The Rider Social also hire Never Summer splitboards complete with Spark R+D bindings and can tap into their contacts and provide a local guide too. In short, if you’re in the Portes Du Soleil and fancy a day or two out of a regular trip to go splitboarding, it looks like The Rider Social dudes can sort you out.
