NISEKO POWDER

After 13 days of consecutive snowfall, Evan Wilcox takes to his favourite backcountry spots to shred some Niseko Powder.

Perfect bottomless powder, sinking to my shoulders and still gliding through effortlessly. This is why I live in Niseko.

Through January and much of February it usually snows pretty much every day on Hokkaido. The area around Niseko is the Island’s honeypot and justifiably famous. However, there are many more backcountry zones on Hokkaido, many of them are quite wild and remote. They all share one thing in common though and that’s ridiculous amounts of snow.
